I firmly believe all my work is bullshit.
But when I thought my first chance to know the validity of my work had been robbed from me, I thought of this emotional exhortation from Shakespeare's King Lear, when Lear lays down the body of his murdered daughter Cordelia:

"No, no, no life!
Why should a dog, a horse, a rat, have life,
And thou no breath at all?"
